LAWLESSNESS IN AMERICA

During a speech entitled, “Lawlessness Is a Choice”, at Hillsdale College on September 30, 2025, columnist for the New York Post, Miranda Devine, expressed the following:

“While being interviewed on a podcast, Texas Democrat Congresswoman, Jasmine Crockett decided to opine on crime, a topic on which she apparently considers herself to be an expert. Her nutty conclusion was this: “Just because someone has committed a crime, it doesn’t make them a criminal.”

Devine continued: “Of course, it’s nonsense. A criminal is defined precisely as a person who has committed a crime. But when Crockett chooses her own definitions, she is simply echoing a progressive shibboleth (custom) that has turned blue cities across the country into lawless hellholes. It holds that people who commit crimes have no agency – that they are helpless victims of circumstance. Therefore, any attempt to hold them accountable by arresting them, or putting them in jail is unjust – it further victimizes them. The obvious result of this logic is that criminals are emboldened, and their real victims become helpless hostages to lawlessness.”

Lawlessness spawned by domestic social conditions of poverty, injustice, or racial tension is quite different than lawlessness funded by foreign and domestic dark money groups, political parties, or radical left-wing groups. Foreign nations like China, Russia and Iran have been interfering in American elections and funding protest groups to create unrest and conflict in major cities in America. Russia, Iran and China want to undermine American unity by spreading false and misleading claims about elections, voting and hot-button issues like immigration, and the economy.

In the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections it was discovered that Russia had recruited Black Lives Matter protesters to stage rallies that led to violence and destruction. When American forces assassinated Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, responsible for the deaths of American troops in Iraq – Iran’s leaders vowed revenge against the United States.

Antifa as a movement gained prominence during the Obama administration, but its roots track back much further. Antifa, short for anti-fascist, has origins in early 20th– century Europe, in response to fascism and Nazism. The movement began to coalesce in the United States in the 1980s and 1990s, primarily among anarchist and leftist groups. Individuals involved in the movement subscribe to left-wing ideologies, and hold anti-authoritarian, anti-capitalist, and anti-state views. A majority of their members are anarchists, communists, and socialists. The symbol commonly used by antifa and its logo depict a black anarchist flag overlaying a communist red flag.

Many left-wing sympathizers and supporters of the Antifa movement, including, senior members of the Democratic Party, liberal political pundits, and prominent media outlets, have proclaimed that Antifa is not a unified organization but rather a movement without hierarchical leadership structure, comprising multiple autonomous groups and individuals. Many law enforcement agencies, including federal agencies take a counterview, and state that the Antifa movement resembles Islamic sleeper cells in the United States that are typically defined as groups of individuals who remain inactive until they receive orders to carry out terrorist activities.

The United States government has designated Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization.

  •  The designation noted that Antifa is a militarist, anarchist enterprise that calls for the overthrow of the U.S. government, law enforcement authorities, and our system of law – using illegal means, including violence and terrorism, to accomplish these goals.
  • The designation directs the Federal government to investigate, disrupt, and to dismantle all illegal operations conducted by Antifa or any person claiming to act on behalf of Antifa. It also calls for investigating, disrupting, and dismantling the funding sources behind such operations.
  • The government states that Antifa has engaged in armed standoffs with law enforcement, organized riots, violently assaulted ICE and other law enforcement officers, and engages in routine doxing of political figures and activists, threatening public safety.

According to Seamus Bruner, Director of Research at the Government Accountability Institute (GAI), it was revealed that left-wing funders such as billionaire Neville Roy Singham were behind left-wing Antifa riots and protests. In a meeting with the Trump Administration, Bruner explained that “he, GAI President Peter Schweizer, and their organization were able to “follow” the money trail to the top of what they called the Protest Industrial Complex, or Riot Inc. Bruner explained that the so-called “Riot Inc.” was made up of many different divisions, and that “dozens of radical organizations” have received millions of dollars from Riot Inc.”

Bruner continued: “We found a network of NGOs, it’s not just the Soros network, the Open Society Network. It’s other funding networks, the Arabella Funding Network, the Tides Funding Network, Neville Roy Singham and his network – providing foreign cash. Riot Inc has many divisions, including PR divisions, marketing divisions and a well-funded legal division.”

Charlie Kirk warned of ‘Assassination Culture’ months before his own assassination on September 10, 2025. He warned of a growing left-wing appetite for violence months before he was shot dead. He referenced a report from Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) which polled Americans on their attitudes towards assassination. Their report reads, “Tolerance – even advocacy – for political violence appears to have surged, especially among politically left-leaning segments of the population.”

Kirk posted on April 7, 2025, “Assassination culture is spreading on the left. Forty-eight percent of liberals say it would be at least somewhat justified to murder Elon Musk. Fifty-five percent said the same about Donald Trump. The left is being “whipped” into a violent frenzy. Any setback, whether losing an election or losing a court case, justifies a maximally violent response.”

Lawlessness undermines the foundations of democracy. In a democratic society, the rule of law is essential for maintaining order, protecting rights, and ensuring justice. When lawlessness prevails, it can lead to chaos, erode public trust in institutions, and threaten individual freedoms. Without the rule of law, citizens may lose faith in government and law enforcement. It can lead to higher crime rates, affecting community safety. Without law, individual rights and liberties can be violated without recourse.

On June 11, 2025, Mike Pompeo, Senior Counsel for Global Affairs at the American Center of Law and Justice (ACLJ) published an article in which he stated, “America Cannot Tolerate Lawlessness. There must be accountability for lawlessness – by those who commit it and by those who permit it. The choice before us is clear. We can either be a nation of laws applied equally to all, or we can continue down the path of selective enforcement and mob rule.”

Midterm elections will be held next year. Americans are tired of lawlessness in our major cities across the country. They will reward and support, with their votes, the political party that brings peace, safety, and economic prosperity to the American people.
